Tower Manufacturing’s GFCI Adapters offer OSHA required electrical safety for use with temporary electrical power. GFCI Adapters add shock protection to standard 15 AMP outlets. They are designed for indoor use only and are ideal safety solution for office breakrooms, workshops, labs, garages, and homes. They are small enough to carry in your tool box and offer 1 to 5 GFCI protected outlets.

All Tower’s GFCI Adapters are designed to automatically reset to 'On' position upon being plugged in or after a power interruption. All automatic reset GFCI’s must be manually reset after a ground fault occurrence.

Heavy Duty Commercial Grade Single Outlet Adapter, 3-Wire

Tower Manufacturing Model 30439005 Single Outlet Adapter, 3-Wire can be used to convert any standard indoor electrical outlet into a ground fault (GFCI) protected outlet.

This light weight, portable product can be used in the home, office, vacation cabin or workshop.

The bright 'Red' light indicates when the power is 'On'. The Test and Reset buttons allow for periodic testing.

The plug is very large, it is 5 inches long and 2 inches wide. It is bright yellow color. I am using it in the bedroom with electric blanket, and I wish it was less ugly and noticeable, but I suspect most people run in the work room where how it looks does not matter.

When I plug it in the lower part of a two plug outlet, I am able to plug a small plug in the top outlet. When I lose power I need to manually reset it, as it turns off.

Instruction call for testing the plug every time you use it. To test you need to push the red button, which should trip (turn off) the plug. If it does not, don''t use it and is faulty.

The way a GFI works is to detect a mismatch between the current on the hot line and common line (due to leakage to the ground line, which is why it''s called a "ground fault"). This requires 3 connections. To protect against a short that simply draws too much current on a two-prong plug, you need a circuit-breaker. House circuit breakers will usually do a pretty job, but for me this plug is a bit of extra security based on a prior bad experience with an electric blanket.
